UltraMegaLore will conquer the Fashion Museum of Hasselt as of March 27. International supermodel Hannelore Knuts (Hasselt, 1977) is the curator of an exhibition that revolves around her career, inspirations and encounters. She will get carte blanche to put together an exhibition that offers a blueprint of her career, spread over ten years, at the highest level of international fashion.
Since she gave up her photography studies at age 21 to become a professional model, Hannelore walked all the catwalks that matter and determined the look of Chanel, Gucci, Marc Jacobs and Prada.
At the exhibition, the visitor will be granted a rare insight in her universe, that goes beyond fashion alone. A compilation of her personal favourites, from her first show until now. People whom she met along the way, who fascinate her, whom she feels connected with or who have inspired her. And they don’t necessarily have to be ‘in fashion’. All these impressions she wants to spread the same way she collected them. A cluster of meetings, interests, intuition.
Just as a stylist is always looking for the right combination between different brands, second hand clothing and personal attributes, Hannelore approached her role as curator with similar creativity and endurance. The museum will be her playground for 3 weeks, working towards the opening, interpreting the selected works, shaping it into a highly personal symbiosis.
The visitor will experience a wide variety of art work and art forms, as if he or she were leafing through a magazine with Hannelore’s eyes and vision.
Connected souls, from Belgium and abroad, were asked to contribute. Something. Somehow. Hannelore sat and talked with each individual artist, and together they decided to display a completely new or else somewhat older work.
The exhibition will not be a retrospective one, nor a homage, from or to Hannelore ‘the supermodel’. UltraMegaLore is a confronting look into her own world, that is moved and shaken by many great and small things.
